We hope that you and your families are safe and healthy during this challenging time. As you

know, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused AFU and other Metro Atlanta Soccer Clubs to alter

the process to conduct formal tryouts. Based on the current guidance from the Office of the

Governor, the GA Department of Public Health and the CDC regarding social distancing and with

the health, safety, and well-being of our players and families being the top priority, AFU along

with many other surrounding clubs have taken a collaborative approach to forego the traditional tryout process for the 2020-2021 season.

"This Spring has landed the soccer world in an unprecedented situation due to the pandemic. The safety of our players remains our top priority. While every player, coach and club is ready to be back on the fields, the reality is that we must continue to adhere to the guidelines of our local government and health officials. As such, for the time being, there are severe restrictions on how players can come and train at the fields. Due to these limitations, tryouts would not be an effective process to assess players and place them on teams. In collaboration Ambush, AFU, Concorde, Georgia Express, GSA, LSA, NTH, Steamers FC, SSA, TYSA and UFA, have all made the difficult decision to cancel in-person, formal tryouts.”

While this is a major deviation from our traditional tryout process, the coaching staff at AFU have

worked hard to put together a thorough plan to evaluate, assess, and place players on to the

appropriate teams for the 2020-2021 season.

Our tryout registration is open and we want any player interested in playing Academy,

Select, SCCL and ECNL soccer with AFU for the 2020-2021 soccer year to register as soon

as possible if you haven’t already. Please keep in mind that registering does not commit

you to anything, but does help us plan appropriately.

Over the next few weeks, our technical staff and coaches will be working to contact all registered

players, regardless of whether they are an existing AFU player or a player from outside our club.

Our goal is to create an environment of diligence, fairness and professionalism.
